Privacy Policy

Who We Are

Our website address is https://apartmentcharm.com, run by Victoria and Adam (your small-apartment decor pals). We’re big believers in cozy spaces and real-life tips—no shady stuff.

Comments

When you leave a comment on our site, we collect whatever you typed in, plus your IP address and browser user agent. That might sound fancy, but it’s basically just so we can filter out spam. We also create something called a “hash” from your email to check if you’re using the Gravatar service (it’s what shows your profile pic). Gravatar’s privacy policy lives here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile image pops up for everyone to see—just in the context of your comment, though!

Media

Thinking about uploading an image? Awesome! Just make sure it’s not packed with location data (like EXIF GPS). Because if it is, sneaky folks could download and figure out where that pic was taken. Let’s keep things safe and simple.

Cookies

Yes, we use cookies (not the yummy kind, sadly). Here’s the deal:

  • Comments: If you leave a comment, you can opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies. That way, you won’t have to keep re-typing them every time you drop by. These cookies hang around for about a year.
  • Login Page: We set a temporary cookie just to see if your browser can even handle cookies. This one doesn’t store personal info and vanishes when you shut your browser.
  • Logging In: If you log in, we’ll set up a few cookies to store your login details and your screen preferences. Login cookies last two days (or two weeks if you check “Remember Me”), and screen-option cookies last a year. Logging out removes those cookies.
  • Editing or Publishing Articles: We’ll pop a cookie in your browser that includes the post ID of the piece you just edited. It goes away after a day.

Embedded Content from Other Sites

Sometimes we share videos, images, or articles that live on other websites—like a YouTube vid or an embedded post from some cool blog. That embedded content acts like you visited the other site directly. These third parties might collect your data, use cookies, or track your interactions. If you’re logged in to that other service, they could track that too. Basically, be sure to read their policies if you want the full scoop.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you reset your password, the reset email will include your IP address. We’re not selling your data or anything shady like that.

How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Comments: When you leave a comment, we keep both it and its metadata forever. Why? It helps us recognize and approve any follow-up comments pronto, instead of making you wait in a moderation line.
  • Registered Users: If you sign up for an account, we store the info you give us in your profile. You can view, edit, or delete your personal data anytime (except that username—sorry!). Our site admins can see and edit your details, too.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

  • If you have an account or have commented before, you can ask us for an exported file of the personal data we have on you.
  • You can also request we erase any personal info we hold. Just note: we might need to keep certain data for legal or security reasons (gotta follow those rules).

Where Your Data Is Sent

Visitor comments may be filtered through an automated spam detection service. (We want to keep the trolls and spammers at bay so we can focus on the fun stuff.)

Questions or Concerns?

We get it—privacy is a big deal. If you have questions, just shoot us an email at [email protected]. We’re here to help (and maybe share a few small-space design ideas while we’re at it).

Thanks for reading our not-so-thrilling (but super-important) Privacy Policy. Now, let’s go back to making your apartment cozy and cute!
